Why Buy Air Filters From Filter King?

In comparison to fiberglass filters, 20x20x1 pleated air filters are at least 20 times more effective. All Filter King air filters are made in the US.

Filters frames are made out of heat resistant paperboard with horizontal grid supports. Able to withstand temperatures of up to 200° F and resistant to moisture, the paperboard frames do not support microbial growth and outperforms traditional cardboard frames.

Chemical free, electrostatically charged synthetic polyester media is pleated, maximizing the surface area, to capture a high number of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns with low air flow resistance. To increase durability, the media is supported with a corrosion resistant steel wire.

What MERV Rating should I choose?
How Often to Change Your 20x20x1 Air Filter?
Filter King AC & furnace filters aren’t the typical fiberglass filters that need to be replaced every 30 days. Our filters can typically be used for 3 to 5 months before requiring to be changed. Naturally, a variety of things influence filter lifespan.
Some of the factors that influence your filter’s life include outdoor air quality, whether pets are in the home, and how well your HVAC system is maintained.
Your air filter becomes clogged over time by trapped particles, preventing airflow. The efficiency of the HVAC filter declines. Your system must work harder to heat and cool your home. The extra strain on the HVAC system causes higher energy bills. Regular home air filter replacements can prevent expensive system repairs or replacements down the road.
You should change your filter more frequently if you notice:
- Household dust build-up
- The air isn’t cooling as is used to
- There’s more dust near the air vents
- A dirty filter surface
- Higher energy bills
- Burning smells near your HVAC system.
20x20x1 Air Filter
AC Filter 20x20x1
If you’re looking for an AC/furnace 20x20x1 air filter, you’ve got one of the most common sizes available. Your air filter helps to ensure dust, dirt, and other outdoor air pollutants are cleaned before the air makes it into your home.
With the 20x20x1 air filter, Filter King offers three MERV ratings to choose from. The one you need depends on a few factors. What’s the outdoor air quality like where you live? Do you have pets in your home? Are you living with allergies, asthma, or any other respiratory condition? No matter what protection level you need, we’ve got you covered.
Made in USA
The Filter King 20x20x1 air filter and all of our other standard sizes are made in the USA. We operate out of a warehouse in Alabama, so shipping and returns are quick and easy.

We accept returns of our standard filters within 30 days of purchase. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on custom air filters.
MERV Rating: Which One is Right for You?
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning (ASHRAE) developed the MERV rating system as a consumer standard. It is the only nationally regulated independent filtration system. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. The rating indicates the filtration level and ensures all filters with the same rating function the same, regardless of the filter media.
The higher the MERV rating, the more effective the filter is at removing different contaminants. That also means the air conditioner has to work harder because there’s more to block airflow. The key is finding the right balance for your home or business.
Are you looking for a HEPA filter? Those aren’t MERV-rated but can be considered MERV 17 to 20, or the highest MERV ratings. They’re at least 99.97% effective in trapping .03 micron particles.
At Filter King, we offer 20x20x1 filters in MERV 8, MERV 11, and MERV 13. It’s also possible to purchase a carbon MERV 13 filter for odor elimination.
4-6 Rating: Ideal for Industrial Workspaces
Removes pollen, carpet fibers, clothing fibers, lint, some mold spores, hair spray, etc.
We recommend skipping MERV 4-6 rated filters for residential use. They are a good option for environments that need little filtration, like industrial workspaces. Whether you opt for a washable or disposable filter, these are the cheapest options.
8-13 Rating: Best for Home Use
Removes pet dander, smog, most mold spores, fine dust, dust mites, common allergens, etc.
The most common residential filters fall into this range. They are often found in commercial buildings, too. Depending on your home environment and health conditions, you may need to consider higher-rated filters.
Good: MERV 8 Filter
MERV 8 filters are the choice for most homes. They offer good filtration for those without pets, allergies, or asthma.
Better: MERV 11 Filter
One level higher than MERV 8, the MERV 11 is a mid-level filter. It removes more contaminants, like pet dander, making it an ideal choice for pet owners and those who have mild asthma or allergies.
Best: MERV 13 Filter
If you or a loved one lives with a severe breathing issue, the MERV 13 filter provides the highest filtration levels.
14-20 Rating: Best for Hospitals and Labs
Removes bacteria, viruses, smoke, humidifier dust, face powder, sneeze and cough particulate, etc.
Filters with a MERV rating of 14-20 are not recommended for home environments simply because they aren’t necessary in most cases. They often drive up energy bills since the unit has to work so much harder. Filters in this range are most common in hospitals, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities where airborne particles are potentially dangerous.
FAQs: Common Questions
Below are a few frequently asked questions about our 20x20x1 furnace filter.
When Should I Change an Air Filter?
Unless you’re working with a fiberglass filter that requires replacement every month, then the majority of household air filters can be changed every three to five months. If you want to be sure you’re always running clean air filters, consider signing up for our filter delivery service that sends the filters you need at the schedule you choose.
What MERV Rating Filter Should I Use?
The best filter we offer is the Titanium MERV 13 20x20x1 filter, but this is typically too much for the average home. It’s not necessary unless someone in your home has severe breathing problems. Those without pets or health conditions will likely be fine with a MERV 8 filter. Those with mild allergies or asthma can work with a MERV 11.
Do You Warranty Your Filters?
Orders for our standard filters can be returned within 30 days of purchase. If you ordered custom filters, we cannot accept returns.
Do You Offer Bulk Discounts?
Yes, we do, on all our 20x20x1 air filters. You can buy 1-6 or 12 filters at one time with a significant discount. If you’re in the contiguous U.S., two or more filters in a single order qualify your order for free shipping.
How Long Does Shipment Take?
Orders of our standard filters generally ship within two business days as long as orders are being shipped within the lower 48. Custom filters and orders placed for delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, or other locations outside the United States generally ship within five business days. Delivery typically takes up to five business days for the contiguous U.S. International delivery will take longer.
